Gold Rush is the gear-and-equip tutorial of Soulbound: Online and the fifth beat of the tutorial opening loop. A travelling salesman, Finnley, arrives at Beginner's Bay and sells the player their first weapon and armour; the quest teaches earning gold, buying from a vendor, and equipping gear before the Tutorial Dungeon.

Details

  • Start point: Speak to Finnley in Beginner's Bay.
  • Requirements: Sowing Seeds (the farming loop, used to raise gold).
  • Items required: 50 gold, raised by farming and selling produce to Aster.
  • Enemies: None during the quest; it ends by opening the Tutorial Dungeon beacon.
  • Quest giver: Finnley (vendor id tutorial_travelling_vendor).
  • Quest log: "A Travelling Salesman has arrived at Beginner's Bay. He'll show you his wares if you have enough gold!"

Walkthrough

Raise the gold

The quest asks the player to farm and sell produce to Aster to obtain 50 gold, continuing the farming loop learned in Sowing Seeds.

Buy the starter gear

Speak to Finnley and buy a Dull Katana and the helm, chest and feet armour from his stock. Each pioneer item costs just 2 gold:

Equip and proceed

Speak to Finnley, then equip the Dull Katana and the armour set. Speak to Finnley once more; he tells the player to proceed to the area or open the Beacon when ready to enter the Tutorial Dungeon.

Required for

  • Tutorial Dungeon — the first dungeon, opened via the beacon at the end of this quest.

Changes

  • Introduced with the 2026 tutorial.

Trivia

  • questId 01JYKRV2RY5BCD8CNRCZBWRE0J.
  • The quest task text misspells Finnley's name as "Finley".
  • The vendor sells each pioneer item for 2 gold (8 gold for the full set), while the quest's earning goal is 50 gold — so the player finishes with a surplus. Earlier notes citing a 100-gold cost are out of date.
