Armor
Armor is the gear you wear for survivability and stats — the head, chest and feet pieces. Together with your weapon and your accessories (necklace, belt, two rings and a back slot) it makes up your equipped loadout. Each slot leans toward a different kind of stat, so what you put in it shapes your build.
Armor is crafted at the Gearforge Station or found in dungeon chests, where dropped copies roll bonus stats.
Armor slots
There are three armor slots and four accessory slots. Every slot exists at multiple tiers, and each one leans toward its own stats.
| Slot | Type | Pieces | Tiers | Leans toward | Example |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Head | Armor | 21 | 1–6 | Vitality, Power, Precision | Virelda Warcrest Helm |
| Chest | Armor | 22 | 1–6 | Vitality, Power, Will | Virelda Warcrest Cuirass |
| Feet | Armor | 22 | 1–6 | Vitality, Will, Heavy Hit Chance | Virelda Warcrest Greaves |
| Necklace | Accessory | 51 | 2–6, plus untiered | Attack Speed, Cooldown Reduction, Duration | Celestial Yoku Gunner's Locket |
| Belt | Accessory | 30 | 2–6 | DoT Potency, AoE Radius, elemental damage | Voidline Belt |
| Ring (×2) | Accessory | 36 | 3, plus untiered | Cooldown Reduction, Duration, Projectile Count | Ring of Intimidation |
| Back | Accessory | — | — | No current-tier back gear — the slot is used by cosmetics, backpacks and capes |
Head, chest, feet and necklace pieces can be forged at the Gearforge Station. Belts and tiered rings cannot be crafted at all — they only drop.
Two families of ring and necklace
The ring and necklace slots each hold two separate families, and this is the part players most often miss:
- Tiered pieces sit on the tier ladder, drop from storm-dungeon chests, and roll a bonus package.
- Jewellery is untiered, has fixed stats, never rolls, and is a rare bonus from Mining, Fishing and Foraging — plus storm-dungeon enemies and a handful of vendors and quests.
So most rings in the game are not dungeon loot at all. Full lists: Rings and Necklaces.
Obtaining
- Crafting — head, chest, feet and necklace pieces are forged at the Gearforge Station (see Gearforging). A crafted piece always has its base stats and base rarity.
- Dungeon rolls — armor also drops from dungeon chests. A dropped copy carries a bonus package on top of the base stats. Belts and tiered rings are drop-only.
- Mining, Fishing and Foraging — gathering nodes rarely give up a piece of untiered ring or necklace jewellery. This is the main way rings enter the game.
- Legendary drops additionally carry a legendary effect — a triggered power that cannot be crafted.
Armor stats
Armor carries the same stats as the rest of your gear. Vitality is by far the most common — it appears on 64 of the current armor and accessory pieces — followed by Power, Attack Speed, Will and Duration.
Each slot leans a different way:
- Head, chest and feet — Vitality and Max Health for survivability, plus Power, Will, Focus and Heavy Hit Chance.
- Necklaces — Attack Speed, Cooldown Reduction, Duration and Critical Strike Damage.
- Belts — elemental and damage-over-time stats: DoT Potency, AoE Radius, Physical Damage, Cold Damage, Lightning Damage.
- Rings — utility: Cooldown Reduction, Duration, Projectile Count, Dodge Chance.
Some stats apply to everything you do, while others are bound to a single ability — see Ability Affinity Stats. Every stat has its own page; the full index is on Stats.
Match your armor to your playstyle: Vitality and Max Health for a tank, Critical Strike Chance and Critical Strike Damage for damage, Dodge Chance to avoid hits, or Buff Power, Healing Power and Cooldown Reduction to support your party.
Sets
From Tier 3 upward, armor comes in four themed sets, each covering a head, chest, feet and necklace piece per tier:
Equipping armor
You have eight equipment slots besides your weapon: head, chest, feet, back, necklace, two rings and a belt.
To equip a piece:
- Open your bag (press B), then the character profile (press C).
- Drag and drop the piece into its slot — or right-click it in your bag and choose Equip.
Tip: most armor needs a minimum Skill level to wear — hover over the item icon to see its requirements.
Cosmetics
Cosmetic pieces grant no combat stats but change how you look. Both regular armor and cosmetics can go in either the regular or the Cosmetic slots: wear the pieces you want for stats in the regular slots and the ones you want for looks in the Cosmetic slots, and you keep your stats while showing a customised outfit.
