Note: certain items will stack to 3, while other items cannot be stacked.
How to Equip Gear
Press "c" to open the character screen ("Character Profile"). You can drag-and-drop a weapon or armor piece into slots to equip them.
Cosmetics
Cosmetics are gear used purely for aesthetic reasons. If gear is equipped into a Cosmetic slot on your character screen, they will override the look of your currently-equipped gear.
Keep any gear you find visually appealing for Cosmetics!
Example: regular gear
Example: Cool Cosmetics
How to Open Map
Press "m" or click the global icon near the minimap on the upper right to open the map. If you zoom out, you'll see the World Map. The World Map is a real-time, interactive tool that provides comprehensive information to help you navigate the game world.
To zoom in or out, you may click the + or - buttons at the top, or scroll via the mouse wheel.
Questlist
The World Map also functions as your Quest log and Contract system. By clicking on an active quest, you can see its location or the next objective, guiding you directly to where you need to go. Additionally, you can explore different zones and regions, making it easier to plan your adventures and discover new areas.
While viewing the map, click the Star icon to toggle quest tracking on/off for that specific quest.
The questlist is tracked on the left side of the main screen. To untrack a quest, right-click and choose "Untrack." You can also choose to disable the entire questlist on the main screen under Quick Menu > Settings.
How to Attack
Move the mouse cursor or joystick to aim your attacks.
How to Toggle Attack Mode
To toggle attack mode, click or shift-click the hotbar buttons at the bottom of the screen while in a dungeon.
- Weapons can be toggled to Manual, Auto-aim, and Auto-cast modes.
- Abilities can be toggled between Manual and Auto-cast.
How to Change Inputs
If you would like to use a different key to activate an Ability or other functions, see the Quick Menu > Settings > Input.
Basic Combat Mechanics
Weapons
Weapons are your first means of offense in Soulbound. You may equip 1 weapon at a time.
- Swords strike in an arc quickly, for more frequent damage.
- Longswords are slower but generally more powerful and can reach long distances in a line.
- Heavy Weapons like hammers and axes pound the ground with a reverberating effect, leaving aftershock damage.
Each weapon comes with different Stats and may require certain Skill Level requirements to use.
Armor
Players may equip a complete set of gear: 1 chestpiece, 1 leg armor, 1 necklace, 2 unique rings, a belt, and a Cape.
Armor can affect Stats and may require certain Skill Level requirements to wear.
Abilities
Abilities are special attacks linked to your Combat Skills: Knowledge, Dexterity, Technology, and Marksmanship. For example, you can throw fireballs with Pyrosphere, heal with Healing Pulse, or deal damage in a rotating circle via Minigun.
Note: Abilities are randomized while in Tutorial dungeons and Abyssal Raid.
To get a better grasp of individual mechanics, see: Abilities and Skills
To learn how to level up Skills, see: Leveling and Progression
Relics
Relic buffs increase the utility of a Weapon or Ability while in a dungeon. Each time a player gains enough dungeon Experience Points (EXP) and fills up the EXP bar at the bottom, they will be provided with the option to choose 1 of 3 Relics. Relics can have many levels. For example: providing an extra fireball when you cast Pyro, or increasing Ability damage by 50%. Relics are specific to each dungeon run and will be removed upon exiting the dungeon. Choose wisely - you can tailor your fight against unique enemies!
Upgrades
Weapon and Ability Upgrades can be done through the Quick Menu > Upgrades. Upgrades affect the available upgrade path for Relics in a dungeon. For example, instead of a generic 3% buff to damage, the player may be offered a 50% damage buff for Pyro. The more you Upgrade, the more advanced the Relic buffs.
Upgrade items can be crafted at Fritz's lab in Arcadia.
Basic Dungeon Mechanics
Each dungeon comes with its own requirements, enemies, item drops, and consequences for failure or success.
Tutorial Island
- Tutorial dungeons have 1 floor each.
- A smattering of enemy mobs will assault you
- A Timer at the top of the screen will countdown to the arrival of a Boss
- Once the Boss is defeated, a Portal opens up to a Treasure Chest
- After the treasure is claimed, another Portal opens to exit the dungeon
Beacon Dungeons
- Beacon dungeons in Virelda, Everdune, and Farpoint have multiple floors.
- A Timer at the top of the screen will count up and corresponds to an increasing amount of Difficulty added to the dungeon. For example: increasing enemy damage.
- Floor 4 contains a random Bulkatron miniboss
- Floor 5 has a Healing Oasis
- Floor 8 has at least 1 Boss
- Once the Boss is defeated, a Portal opens up to a Treasure Chest
- After the treasure is claimed, another Portal opens to exit the dungeon
How to Advance
The player may advance in a Soul Beacon dungeon when one or more conditions are met:
- Timer
- # of Regular Enemy Kills
- # of Boss Kills
Dungeon Portals
Once the conditions are met, a dungeon Portal will appear. Dungeons portals contain a symbol depicting what awaits you beyond:
- Sword Symbol - regular enemies
- Heart Symbol - safe area with a Healing Oasis
- Fish Symbol - safe area with a Fishing Pool
- Skull Symbol - Boss
- Chest Symbol - treasure chest room
- Home Symbol - exit portal to leave the dungeon
How can I leave the dungeon fast?
Dungeons are normally left via the green "Home" symbol portal, preferably after killing a Boss and claiming the treasure.
In dire instances, you can press the ESC key to leave a dungeon. If in a party, you may also right-click your name on the Party List and choose Leave Party. You can also disconnect from the game for 3 minutes to be teleported outside the dungeon for inactivity.
Be warned: some dungeons have consequences for failure, and leaving a dungeon outside of a Portal counts as a Death.
