Coal
Coal is a fundamental resource in Soulbound used as both a crafting component and an energy source. It plays a role in fuel-based systems like Generators and is also used in the AMM for passive income generation.
⛏️ How to Obtain
Coal can be acquired through the following methods:
- Mining nodes across the overworld and dungeon environments
- Purchasing or trading from other players
- Selling or trading via the Automated Market Maker for Gold
🔧 Usage
🔌 Generator Fuel
Coal is the main fuel source for powering Generators, which are required to run Crafting Stations and other interactive devices. Coal is consumed over time while a generator is active.
- Coal provides a moderate fuel duration per unit
- Often used early-game due to wide availability
- In Apartment generators, 1 Coal provides either 0.22 hours (13 minutes) when used in your own unit, or 0.12 hours (7 minutes) when fueling a generator placed by another player.
- Coal cannot be split into fractional units—usage must be whole numbers only
💱 AMM Liquidity Pool
Coal can be deposited into AMM liquidity pools at the Desat Bank in Arcadia City. Deposited coal earns Gold Bonds passively over time.
- Deposits must remain in the pool to continue earning
- Gold Bonds can be exchanged for Gold through Clyde

🔥 Fuel Time by Use Case
The amount of time coal powers a Generator depends on the context of use:
- Own Apartment Generator – A generator in your own apartment (1 coal = 0.22 hrs)
- Another Player’s Generator – A generator in another player’s apartment (1 coal = 0.12 hrs)
- Public Generator (Arcadia) – Public-use generator in Arcadia City (1 coal = 0.10 hrs)
