Wiki:Librarian Credits

This page is the official ruleset for the Librarian Credits programme: how the Soulbound development team rewards wiki contributors with the in-game currency Librarian Credits, which are spent with the Librarian in Neo-Tilus.

Read this page before you start editing for credits. The rules are published in full, and deliberately so — we would rather you knew exactly what earns credits than guessed.

In short

template to your user page with your character name, user ID, and region, so we know which character to pay.

Write and improve real content on articles, templates, file pages, and help pages.
At the start of each month we measure what you added the month before, and award credits.
Content that gets reverted, blanked, or padded earns nothing.

Registering

Credits are paid to an in-game character, so your wiki account has to be linked to one. Put the {{Soulbound player}}

template at the top of your own user page:

ign — your in-game character name, spelled exactly as it appears in game.
id — your in-game user ID, a 26-character code. In game, open Settings, go to Account, and click Copy User ID.
region — the region (server) you play on: US, Europe, Asia, or South America. Soulbound runs a separate server per region and your character exists on only one of them, so we cannot find your account without it.

Add the template once. One wiki account is linked to one character: a user page declaring two characters or two user IDs is held and not paid, because we cannot tell which you meant.

The template puts your page in Category:Wiki contributors, which is the list we read each month. All three fields are required. If any is missing or malformed your page lands in a maintenance category instead and you will not be paid until it is fixed.

Only edits made by the wiki account whose user page carries the declaration are counted. You cannot claim credit for edits made while logged out, or made by another account.

What earns credits

Credits are earned on the bytes of content you added that were still there at the end of the month, weighted by where you added them.

Uploading an image earns a small flat bonus per file, capped monthly. Creating a substantial new page earns a bonus on top of its content.

What earns nothing

This is the part that matters. The award is designed so that padding is not worth the effort.

Formatting-only and whitespace edits: Credits are calculated from the net change in content across a page over the whole month. Re-indenting, retyping a heading, swapping quote marks, or adding and removing the same text nets zero bytes, so it pays zero. Splitting one real edit into fifty small ones pays exactly the same as making it once.

Churn and self-reverting: Adding text and later removing it cancels out. Removing someone else's text and re-adding it cancels out. Both are visible in the page history and both raise a review flag.

Reverted content: Any revision the wiki records as reverted or rolled back is excluded before scoring. Content only pays if it survives.

Blanking, wholesale replacement, and mass deletion: Removing a large amount of content from a page raises a review flag and is checked by a human. Legitimate cleanup is fine and welcome — you just may be asked about it.

Your own user page: Excluded entirely. Registering for the programme is not itself a contribution.

Bulk low-value page creation: Creating many near-empty pages, stub farms, redirect farms, or category-only edits does not pay meaningfully, because each page has to clear a minimum content threshold before it pays at all.

Machine-generated filler: Content pasted from a language model, padded with invented detail, or copied from another wiki is not a contribution. It will be removed and it may cost you eligibility for the programme. Everything on this wiki is expected to be accurate and sourced from the game.

Caps and limits

Caps exist so that one very heavy month cannot empty the reward pool, and so that no single page can be farmed.

Minimum per page — a page must net a meaningful amount of new content before it pays anything at all.
Per page, per month — content on a single page stops paying past a cap. Spread your work across the wiki.
Per month, per contributor — a hard ceiling on the credits any one contributor can be awarded in a month.
Minimum payout — very small totals are not paid out; they do not roll over.
Account age — your wiki account must be at least two weeks old at the end of the month being scored.
One character per wiki account — declare the template once. Two characters on one user page is held.
One payout per character — if two wiki accounts declare the same in-game user ID or character name, both are held and neither is paid until it is resolved.

The exact numbers used each month are published with the award announcement.

Review and disputes

Every month's proposal is reviewed by a human before anything is granted. A contributor's month may be flagged for review when, for example, most of their credits come from a single page, their edits are heavily concentrated in a short burst, a large amount of content was deleted, or a large share of their revisions were reverted. A flag is not an accusation — it means someone reads the diffs before paying.

The development team makes the final decision on every award and may withhold credits for content that is inaccurate, plagiarised, machine-generated, or made in bad faith. Attempting to game the measurement is grounds for removal from the programme.

If you think a month was scored wrongly, raise it on the talk page with the diffs you believe were missed.
