Wiki:Item page guide
Everything you need to create or fix a page for a weapon, a piece of armor, an accessory or a tool. Read Wiki:Manual of Style for the wiki's general rules — this page covers only item pages, and where the two disagree, this page is the more recent.
Before you start
- Log in. You need an account to upload an icon, and it means your work is credited.
- Check the item does not already have a page. Search the exact in-game name, then search one distinctive word from it. Older pages exist under old names and odd spellings — improve one rather than starting a second.
- Read the numbers off the game, not off memory or another wiki. Open the item in your bag and copy the tooltip. A lot of this wiki predates Early Access and is wrong.
- Use the American spelling armor. It matches the game's own text. (The Manual of Style still says British English; that line is being retired. Where they conflict, follow the game.)
- Practise in Wiki:Sandbox if you have not used a template before. Nothing there is permanent.
The page skeleton
Sections in this order. Skip any that does not apply to your item, but never reorder them.

Always. |
| 3 | Lead sentence | Always. |
| 4 | == Possible rolls == |
Gear that drops from dungeon chests. |
| 5 | == Legendary effect == |
Gear that can roll a legendary effect. |
| 6 | == Creation == |
Anything with a crafting recipe. |
| 7 | == Item sources == |
Always. |
| 8 | == Changes == |
When you know a date the item changed. |
| 9 | == Trivia == |
Optional. Verifiable trivia only. |
Player-facing prose — how the item plays, what it pairs with, whether it is worth the materials — goes between Item sources and Changes under a heading of your choosing (Strategy, Usage). That writing is welcome and it is yours; see Who owns which part of the page.
Which infobox
| Item | Template |
|---|---|
| Weapon, head, chest, feet, belt, ring, necklace, back | {{Infobox Gear}}
|
| Pickaxe, gloves, fishing rod, hacking tool, hoe, spile | {{Infobox Tool}}
|
| A stat's own page (Power, Attack Speed…) | {{Infobox Stat}}
|
| Cosmetics, consumables, materials, furniture | the older type-specific infoboxes — those page types have not been rebuilt yet |
Weapons, armor and accessories all share one stat schema in the current game, which is why they share one infobox. Do not use the legacy Weapon Infobox / Armour/Infobox / …Seq templates; they are being retired.
== Filling in {{Infobox Gear}}
==
| Parameter | What to put |
|---|---|
name |
The exact in-game name. Required. |
image |
<Page title> icon.png — see Icons. Leave blank if you have no icon.
|
slot |
One of Weapon, Head, Chest, Feet, Belt, Ring, Necklace, Back. Required, and capitalise it exactly as written — a lower-case value still looks right on the page but files it into a broken duplicate category.
|
subtype |
Weapons only: Sword, Greatsword, Hammer or Staff.
|
set |
Foundation, Lunar, Neotilus or Virelda. Leave blank if the item is not part of a set.
|
tier |
0–6. Required on tiered gear — without it the page lands in the missing-data queue and gets no tier category. |
rarity |
0–5, the base rarity: what a crafted or vendor copy is. 1 Common, 2 Uncommon, 3 Rare, 4 Epic, 5 Legendary; 0 means the item has no rarity colour. A dropped copy can be higher — that belongs in Possible rolls, not here. |
| base stats | One parameter per stat, using the game's own key in snake_case: power, precision, focus, ferocity, vitality, will, critical_strike_chance, attack_speed, health, power_fire, resistance_cold and so on. The full list is on Template:Infobox Gear/doc. Values are plain numbers with no + and no % — the template adds those. A key that is not on the list is ignored silently, so check the list if a stat does not appear.
|
strength_req, dexterity_req, knowledge_req, technology_req, marksmanship_req, gearforging_req |
Skill levels needed to equip it. |
value |
Sell price in gold. |
tradeable |
Yes or No.
|
rolls |
yes if dungeon-dropped copies roll bonus stats.
|
legendary |
yes if a Legendary drop of it can carry a legendary effect.
|
craftable |
yes if a recipe exists.
|
examine |
The item's in-game description line. |
id |
The internal item name, if you happen to know it. Leave it out otherwise. |
Only base stats go in the infobox. Bonus stats from a dungeon roll go in Possible rolls. Getting this wrong makes a crafted item look far stronger than it is.
The infobox files the page into its slot, weapon-type, tier, set and rarity categories, and into the drop/craft/legendary categories, all by itself. Do not type lines for those — see Wiki:Categorisation.
Tools use different parameters (tool_type, activity, base_power, crit_chance, skill, skill_level) — see Template:Infobox Tool/doc. Tools are craft-only: they never drop and never roll, so a tool page has no Possible rolls section.
Icons
- Get the item's icon as a PNG with a transparent background, at its real size — 16×16 for gear, 32×32 for tools. Do not enlarge it yourself; the wiki upscales pixel art crisply and a hand-scaled icon comes out blurry.
- Upload it at Special:Upload named exactly
<Page title> icon.png. If the page title carries a tier suffix the file name does too: the icon for Blastline Belt (Tier 6) isBlastline Belt (Tier 6) icon.png. - Put that file name in the infobox's
imageparameter.
No icon yet? Leave image blank. The page joins Category:Pages needing an image
and someone will get to it. Never point image at a file that does not exist.
How rolls work, and how to write them up
Read Gear#Dungeon rolls once before writing this section. The short version:
- A crafted copy has the base stats and the base rarity. Nothing else.
- A copy that drops from a dungeon chest carries one bonus package on top of the base stats. Each item has a fixed set of packages, typically around twenty, and the drop picks one.
- A package's stats arrive together as a set. Stats are not rolled one by one. This is the thing most people get wrong. Do not write "can roll +5–8% Attack Speed" as though it were an independent chance.
- Many items have a guaranteed core of bonus stats present in every package, plus one to three additional stats whose count and values rise with the package's rarity.
- A Legendary package can also carry a legendary effect. Crafted copies and lower-rarity drops never do.
Write it as a table: {{RollTableHead}}
, then one {{RollRow}}
per band, closed with|}. Uselabel=Alwaysfor the guaranteed core andrarity=2…5for the bands, and prefix each band's list with how many of the listed stats a package takes —+2 more of:. Separate the{{RollStat}}calls inside a row with a single space and nothing else; the middle dots between them appear on their own.
Documenting a roll table from playing is hard — you would need a lot of drops to see every package. Add the ranges you have actually seen, and do not delete a range that is wider than yours: different packages roll different spans of the same stat. If you are unsure, say so on the talk page.
What we do not publish
Never publish drop chances, percentages, or loot-table weights, for items or for effects. Not even ones you have worked out yourself. Describe how often something drops in words, using exactly one of these five:
- Common · Uncommon · Rare · Very rare · Extremely rare
That is what the Rarity column of Item sources is for — and note it means how often the item drops there, which is a different thing from the item's rarity colour. Use — for a crafting or vendor row, and Unknown when nobody has established it.
Everything about the outcome of a roll is fair game and should be documented in full: which stats can appear, their ranges, which rarities exist, and which legendary effects are possible.
Two items with the same name
The game reuses display names across tiers. When it does:
- Each version gets its own page, titled
Name (Tier N). - Every one of them opens with a hatnote pointing at the others:
:''This is the Tier 6 version. For other versions, see [[Blastline Belt (Tier 5)|Tier 5]].''
- The bare name is a redirect to the highest tier, because that is the one most readers want.
Do not disambiguate a name that is not actually shared, and do not add "(Tier N)" to a unique item.
Pages about old content
A lot of pages here describe the game as it was before Early Access. Those are marked, not deleted:
{{Old game data}}
Put it at the very top, above the infobox. Add it when a page's numbers, sources or drop information clearly predate the current game — even if the name and picture still look right. You can pass a note explaining what specifically is stale: {{Old game data|The drop rates below are from the pre-release build.}}.
Only remove the banner once you have checked every number on the page against the live game. Removing it because the page looks tidy is worse than leaving it.
Who owns which part of the page
Item pages have two halves and they are edited differently.
Kept in step with the game (may be overwritten). The infobox, the Possible rolls table, the Creation table and the Item sources table are refreshed against current game data by the wiki's maintainers when the game changes. If you hand-correct a number there it may be replaced at the next refresh — so if you believe one is wrong, fix it and say so on the article's talk page, which is what gets the source fixed.
Yours, and never overwritten. The lead sentence, any strategy or usage writing, trivia, galleries and guides. No refresh touches prose. This is where the wiki gets its value — the data blocks are just numbers.
Before you save
- Title is the exact in-game name (plus
(Tier N)only if genuinely shared). slotspelled and capitalised exactly as listed;tierfilled in.- Infobox holds base stats only, with no
+or%in the values. - No numeric drop chances anywhere on the page.
- Sections in the order given above.
- Preview once. If you see a red "Script error" or an "Expression error", undo your last change and ask on the talk page — never leave one saved.
- Add the item to the matching list: List of Weapons, List of Armor, List of Accessories or List of Gear. Those lists are typed by hand and will not pick your page up on their own.
