Tools
Tools are items used by players to perform tasks such as farming, foraging, fishing, mining and hacking.
There are two main categories of tools:
- Equipable Tools — must be equipped to be used; a player can equip up to 12.
- Usable Tools — used directly from the inventory, often consumed or activated for a specific action.
The four gathering skills — Mining, Foraging, Fishing and Hacking — each have a six-tier tool line crafted at the Manufacturing Station. A tool works nodes of its tier and below, so a Tier 4 pickaxe mines every outcrop up to Tier 4. Which tier you can make is gated by the station's own level (1–6), and each recipe also carries a Crafting level requirement. Unlike Gear, these tools never drop from dungeons.
Farming tools are the exception. The Hoe, Trowel, Watering Can and Garden Shears are a single starter set: they have no tiers, no upgraded versions and no crafting recipe, and are given to the player during Sowing Seeds.

The four farming tools are the complete set. Unlike the gathering tools there are no tiers and no upgraded versions of the Hoe, Trowel, Watering Can or Garden Shears in the game, and none of them is crafted at a station.

Older foraging tools
The tools below were craftable in an earlier version of the game, at a Crafting Table that no longer exists. They cannot currently be crafted. Where a quest or vendor is named as the source, that source has not been re-verified against the current game — treat it as historical until someone confirms it in-game.
